About Me

Beverages Journalist, Consultant and Host- my professional roles cover virtually all the aspects of the beverages trade, predominantly so- wine.
These roles are facilitated by a  leadership background in multiple domains,
affording an enviable professional network and a cutting edge technology enablement.

My passion for Wine & Spirits is more than skin deep- or as  close chums say- has trappings of a celestial background. That's probably the reason why my plunge into the wine world started on a celebratory note- by winning the  coveted Champagne Scholarship!

Travelling to  top wine regions of the world and working closely on ground with several winemakers   has afforded me the necessary grounding, which is a must for any serious wine professional. This knowledge base has further been enhanced through conducting avant garde tasting sessions, understanding the business aspects by going into each functional level and a vast body of written work for print as well as electronic media. Tasting innumerable wines through this continuing journey has  undoubtedly been an enabling factor as well!

I am placing some resources on this page that will give you an abridged glimpse of my work. Should you want to get in touch for any services related to the wine and spirits trade, please mail me at
 ravi@ravikjoshi.com .
It will be my pleasure to revert with the necessaries to take it forward.

As a Consultant

Market Studies And
Detailed Project Reports
Here are some snapshots of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) I delivered for a London based client,  on establishing a wine school in India. The report, conforming to the best of standards  laid down by the prestigious Project Management Institute USA, highlights my commitment towards the use of world class savoir faire in delivering value to esteemed clients.
Tasting Sessions:
Conceptualisation To Execution
If we tasted beverages the same way all the time, life would be monotonous! Probably why Hotel Le Meridien New Delhi hired me to conceptualise and execute delivery of a whisky   tasting session for a group of senior business leaders coming from sixteen nationalities. Last minute changes were necessitated due to the fluid commitments of the group, but thanks to adequate risk planning, we were able to cope well, with the attendees retiring for the day with  dreams in their eyes! Some images below convey the essence of the evening.
Wine Service:
 Serving Wine  To Ambassadors
Those who have ever served wine with multiple food courses would agree that it is no mean job to sequence the wines, factor-in the chilling durations, ambient temperatures and the time required to serve each guest so that the wine is just the right temperature before the first sip is made. What if the guest list comprises of Ambassadors of a dozen plus countries? You would  imagine the sweat trickling down the brows of the cellar charge d'affaire. I did it for the uber luxury Fine Wine and Champagne magazine at the residence of Ambassador of Finland in India. Believe me- the best reward was a thunderous applause by the august gathering! Sharing some images below.
Trade Sessions
Fine Food India, the biggest food and drinks expo in India invited me to deliver a session on "Pairing Indian Food and Wine". The stimulating session saw attendance of hospitality professionals from all over India as well as many foreign wine producers who had put up their stalls at the expo. Many myths about Indian food with wine were busted the session that ran to a full house!
Consumer Sessions
It was my honour to conduct a deep dive wine session for Principals and Directors of a top global corporate house in Hitech City Hyderabad. The session was attended by their leaders from 5 countries . The wine choice entirely left on me, included some of the best ones available in the country.
As a Host
Here's sharing images of some of the wine tastings and dinners hosted by me, that have had people asking for more. As I write these lines, invitations have already started going out for the next ones.....
A French wine tasting conducted on the eve of French national day.
A Himalayan Dégustation
The first ever wine tasting in India in the lap of Himalayas.
Winesome India
A wine dinner with Indian wines paired with authentic  multi course Indian spread.
I was awarded the Champagne Scholarship India by the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) London. The program was funded by  Comité Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne (CIVC) and  involved visiting key Champagne houses to learn the production methods of the world's most famous sparkling wine. The trip saw me visiting prestigious Champagne houses such as Billecart-Salmon, Cattier, Taittinger, Michel Gonet and Bollinger, apart from the CIVC headquarters itself.

Vineyard Experience

After my scholarship trip to the Champagne region, I travelled to live and work with winemakers in Bordeaux, The Rhône Valley and Beaujolais, undergoing each aspect of winemaking from grape to glass. Being harvest time, I also had the privilege of 'getting my hands dirty' in several Cru Beaujolais parcels. Below are some selected images to depict my journey through French vineyards.
On the invitation of  iconic Spanish producer Miguel Torres S.A. I was privileged to tour their vineyards and wineries in the famed Cataluña and La Rioja regions. Apart from an opportunity to understand the best of winemaking practices and sustainability initiatives in the Spanish wine country, I was thrilled to get an insight into the global wine industry from none other than Mr. Miguel Torres himself during a one-on-one chat. Below are some images detailing my Spanish experience.
Starting from Friuli Venezia Giulia to Tuscany and onwards toVeneto- my Italian wine expedition saw me charting various Italian vineyards in deep wine territory. Sharing here some photos of the famous Chianti region . More coming up soon....
